Key Highlights to 6 Days Ndutu Calving Season Serengeti Migration Safari

The Wildebeest Migration Calving Safari season typically occurs in the Serengeti ecosystem, primarily in the Southern Serengeti and parts of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, during late January to early March. This period is characterized by the calving of wildebeests, which is one of the most awe-inspiring wildlife events in East Africa.

Wildebeest Births: The primary attraction of the calving season is witnessing the wildebeests giving birth to their young. Tens of thousands of wildebeest calves are born during this time, making it an incredible spectacle.

Predator Activity: The calving season also attracts a concentration of predators, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. They take advantage of the vulnerable calves, resulting in thrilling predator-prey interactions.

Plentiful Birdlife: In addition to the wildebeests and predators, the calving season also sees an abundance of birdlife as they gather around the newborns and the opportunities for easy meals.

Green and Lush Landscapes: The region is lush and green during the calving season, offering a stunning contrast to the dry season. The landscapes are picturesque and provide an excellent backdrop for wildlife photography.

Safari Experiences: During a Wildebeest Migration Calving Safari, you can expect to go on game drives led by experienced guides who know the best areas for witnessing calving and predator activity. Hot air balloon safaris are also popular during this season, offering a unique perspective of the Serengeti and the migration. Cultural interactions with local Maasai communities can provide insight into their traditional way of life, adding a cultural dimension to your safari.
